You deserve acceptance, acknowledgement, encouragement, to feel worthy, to feel confident,
to feel seen, heard, understood and respected
How do I know this?
My past experiences told me I was better off doing life by myself.
Feeling stunted by poisonous words, harsh looks and dismissive behaviours set me up for a life of intense loneliness.
I became a master of pretending.
My well-rehearsed fake smile, false confidence and white lies
shielded me from facing the crumbling mess I was inside.
Constantly preparing my nervous system for criticism, judgement and humiliation made life exhausting.
At times I even felt like death was the only way to find peace
The first time I felt like I could show some of my true self was in my late 40’s when I was encouraged to share my stories in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
I learned the power of being with people who could hear me, accept me
and still love me without trying to change, fix or rush me.
As I developed confidence in being heard, I slowly learned to listen to myself
and recognise that all the answers I need are inside me.
I learned true self-worth is a choice and that my beliefs about myself could be changed!
